Oddly enough, the cab to the
Kintai Bridge (roughly 6 miles away) cost more than it did to get to Hiroshima (1 hour train ride), but we made a pretty fun treks out to explore the town, hike to the castle, and then went back at night to see the bridge lit up at night. The night-time stop also included me buying the biggest grapefruits I've ever seen. Not much to shout about as far as quality, but I still couldn't pass it up. The hike was probably my highlight of this part, but as most of you probably know, hiking is an easy way to make something a highlight for me ;). Not much more happened, but the pictures ended up being pretty fun.
Not posed, oddly enough.
Iwakuni Castle from the bottom.

Never going to pass up a chance to climb... some things never change.

Samurai twins!

Maddie playing in the fountain/rain. Good thing she's wearing that hood!

People in Japan dress up their dogs... and take BUNNIES for walks?

What better way to enjoy the top of a hike on a cold January day than Ice Cream? We're not so bright, are we?

The look of wonder at the well was followed by disappointment at the fact that no, it's not bottomless. We threw coins into it anyway.

Proof that we actually got to the castle ;)

The trail on the way down was much more scenic than the road on the way up. Cool slanted trees too, eh?

All lit up at night.

Guess Maddie's a bit of a climber too!

The full mood among the clouds only added to the experience, not to mention the pictures.

My turn to stand really still so I don't look blurry.
